- RVs that have a Gel-Coat finish get tired (faded) looking within a year when left outdoors. This dull appearance is usually the result of oxidation caused by the sun's damaging ultra-violet rays. In order to restore and retain a lasting, high gloss shine, it is necessary to remove the oxidation to expose a clean layer of fiberglass. If oxidized fiberglass is left untreated for long periods, the surface may permanently fade, requiring professional preparation. To restore the shine of your RV, you must remove the oxidation and apply a formulated polymer based wax/sealant with UV inhibitors.
